After rescinding his decision and asking President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to forgive him for going independent during the 2016 election, all has not been well with the former chairman of the Klottey Korle constituency, Nii Noi Nortey.
The leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the constituency are not happy that Nii Noi Nortey was nurturing a desire to return to the party.
Nii Noi Nortey lost the last re-run of the party’s parliamentary primary in the constituency by Philip Addison, who polled 396 votes.
Nii Noi had before that been declared the winner in an earlier primary on August 2, 2015, but Mr Addison challenged the results in court, which was upheld, resulting in the re-run.

Nortey who subsequently decided to go independent said he was advised by his followers to do so.
On his birthday, Wednesday May 3, 2017, Nii Noi said he regrets his decision and is, therefore, asking for forgiveness.
"It hasn’t been easy… I will like to use this opportunity to forgive anybody who opposed me and also anyone who I might have offended," he said.
"When you are young you get people telling you to do all manner of things. However, I want to use this opportunity to ask for forgiveness and especially my political godfather – former President J.A Kufuor. He even called me to rescind my decision [to go independent] but there were a lot of circumstances on the ground which didn’t allow that."

But according to a member of the Election and Research Committee of the party in the constituency, Mr Isaac Sarpong, "We don’t need him in Klottey Korle constituency, the national executives can go ahead and accept him but we don’t need him here. He can go to any constituency but we in Klottey Korle will not accept him."
He said the NPP’s woes in the constituency during the 2016 elections should be attributed to the actions of Nii Noi Nortey.
He said all attempts to prevent Nii Noi Nortey from leaving the party proved futile.

He added that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the parliamentary aspirant Philip Addison’s image was tarnished by their former chairman.
"On what basis is he apologising, is it the throwing of stones by his supporters at Nana Addo or threatening and damaging the image of Lawyer Addison," he said.
