Former Vice President says Nyantakyi’s decision not to seek re-election must be respected

Former GFA vice President urges public and media to respect the decision of Mr Kwesi Nyantakyi's intention of not seeking re-election in 2019

The FIFA Exco member has had quite a long lasting tenure at the helm of affairs in Ghana Football and believes that it will be time to leave after his current term of office comes to an end.

Mr Nyantakyi has spent 12 years in office as GFA boss and in this years he Mr Nyantakyi has been able to transcend in football administration with holding position as WAFU Zone B President, CAF 1st Vice President including attaining executive committee membership in FIFA.

Nyantakyi will have spent 14 years in the job and Nyantakyi’s vice president in his first tenure of office was speaking to Happy FM where he took a rather neutral position. Mr Fred Pappoe said Mr Kwesi Nyantakyi’s statement of him not seeking re-election solely the latter’s opinion and decision.

"I do not have any thought on this matter. My thought is that, it is Mr Nyantakyi's personal opinion, he is entitled to that decision, so which ever decision he takes is fine so we must accept it and respect that. He's entitled to that and mind you, 2019 is one full year away and so many things can happen within the year, so whatever decision he's taken as at now, we must learn to respect it."

Fred Pappoe was also the Black Stars management committee chairman when Ghana qualified to her first world cup in 2006 which was held in Germany.

Fred Pappoe who is a board member in football club Accra Great Olympics earlier this month announced that he does have interest of succeeding Nyantakyi as Ghana Football Association President in 2019.
