Gambian team manager says Ghana only won because of the referee

Gambia are not happy after their WAFU tournament game against Ghana and their team manager has some strong words.

Ghana played against The Gambia in the opener of the 2017 WAFU at the Cape Coast Stadium.

Vincent Atingah got the winning goal through a penalty on the 98th minute.

The game played injury time close to ten minutes due to the Gambians implementing some delaying tactics in the dying embers of the game.

Speaking to the media after the game the peeved team manager had some strong words to say on the game.

"I'm so sorry for African football. This is a shame. The time has elapsed and you still give a penalty. I have two players under 20. That is the two goalkeepers and the rest are 17 downwards.

"Shame on them. Shame to African football. That is why when we go to World Cup, African sides do not do anything."

He also spoke on if Ghana deserved to win:

"Ghana did not win because they have to. They only win because if the referee. They gave a bad penalty and the time was out.

"Even Ghanaians who believe in God know it's not a penalty. They are taking advantage of home so let them go."
