Find out players who have scored hat-trick against Hearts

Pulse Sports statistical analyst, Thomas Freeman Yeboah takes you through players who have managed a hat-trick against the Phobians in the Ghana Premier League.

Abednego Tetteh became the latest player to bag a hat-trick against the ‘Continental Masters’ on Sunday when he powered Bechem United to a 3-1 victory on match day 27 of the Ghana Premier League to shatter the quest of the Phobians to end their trophy drought in 7 seasons.

It would be recalled that ex-Asante Kotoko striker Opoku Nti scored the fastest hat-trick (in seven minutes) in the anal of Ghana football against Hearts of Oak in 1983 in a game that Kotoko lost 4-3 at the Kumasi Sports Stadium.

However, since I am taking into consideration hat-tricks scored against the Accra giants in the Premier League era it won't count.

There was a lot of talking points the first time one player put three goals at the back of Hearts Oak's of the net, not because of the sensational fashion in which the goals were scored, but there were many doubts about the credibility of the goals.

It happened on 12th May 2010 on the final day of the Ghana Premier League for the 2009-10 season. Heart of Lions needed three points to secure a place in the top four while Samuel Affum a Hearts Oak player was in the race for the top scorer. In the end, two Heart of Lions players, Emmanuel Osei Banahene and Kofi Nti Boakye scored a hat-trick each against the Phobian in a game that ended 5-6 in favour of the Kpando boys. Samuel Affum, also bagged a hat-trick to finish joint top scorer with Bismark Idan. The game produced more hat-tricks than any other in the history of Ghana league.
