Dwyane Wade had no reason to go chasing a ring with the Cleveland Cavaliers, instead joining the Chicago Bulls.

Chicago Bulls guard Dwyane Wade said he thought about joining LeBron James in Cleveland.

When Wade decided he had look into leaving the Miami Heat, he knew he had options.

One of them was defending NBA champions the Cleveland Cavaliers, featuring his friend and former team-mate James.

Wade revealed he considered joining the Cavs during free agency, but did not think he would be a good fit there.

"For me, it's as simple as I got a deal in Miami for $41million, I got a deal in Chicago for $47m," Wade said, via Slam Magazine.

"It didn't come down to the money. I thought about Cleveland, but I didn't fit there."

Wade, who instead signed with the Bulls, already has three NBA championships, two of which came with James on his team.

But at this point in his career, his decision was not necessarily about trying to go for an easy fourth ring.

"You don't just do something because, 'Oh, I could win the ring there.' I have three rings. I don't need to chase the ring," Wade said.

"This is what I wanted to do. I couldn't fight it."

He ended up signing a two-year, $47m deal with his hometown team.

He scored six points in 12 minutes during his Bulls preseason debut on Monday.
