Aduana Stars were shocked by the Eleven Wonders at Techiman, whereas AshGold were kicked out of the competition by Asokwa Deportivo, with Liberty Professionals beating Inter Allies in a shootout to advance to the next stage.

Aduana Stars elimination came as a surprise one especially looking at their current form in the Ghana Premier League and playing against a lower division side, they were tipped to have an easy path to the round of 32, but that wasn’t the case as they failed to fight back from a first half goal conceded.

In Kumasi, the troubles of Ashanti Gold continued when first division side Asokwa Deportivo defeated them 3-1 on penalties to navigate through to the next stage.

Hans Kwoffie put the Miners into the lead, but the host drew level to force the game into penalty shootout, which the lower division side won.

The defeat didn’t come as a surprise looking at AshGold’s poor form, lying at the bottom of the league ladder. Asokwa Deportivo were the same side that knocked out AshGold from the FA Cup last season.

At the El Wak Sports Stadium, Liberty Professionals edged out Inter Allies 5-3 on penalties after the fame had ended goalless in regulation time.

WAFA, the Ghana Premier League leaders also defeated their opponent to progress.

Bechem United dispatched Young Apostles to also reach the round of 32.
