Needing a win at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday, Golden Lions had no problems at all in disposing of Eastern Province Kings.

Golden Lions kept their bid for a Currie Cup semi-final place alive with a 71-7 thrashing of beleaguered Eastern Province Kings on Saturday.

The reigning champions secured a bonus-point win with almost embarrassing ease at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, Kwagga Smith claiming three of his team's 11 tries.

Next up for the Lions is another must-win clash against the Sharks in the final round of the regular season.

They will surely face a stiffer test in that match, with the Kings having shown why they prop up the table, having failed to win a game all season.

Sampie Mastriet crossed for the Kings on Saturday, but it was otherwise one-way traffic as the visitors ran riot.

Howard Mnisi and Jacques Nel each crossed twice, while there were also tries for Ruan Ackermann, Koch Marx, Anthony Volmink and Sylvian Mahuza.
