Two Ghanaians started the game for Roberto Di Matteo’s Aston Villa. Albert Adomah was deployed on the right side of attack with Jordan Ayew operating from the left.
The teams struggled to find an opening in the first half of the game with home team Barnsley and Villa going into the interval goalless.
Jordan Ayew stepped up in the second half of the game to score after an hour of play putting his Aston Villa team ahead.
Roberto Di Matteo’s team however squandered their lead to concede a late goal from Sam Winnall to end the game at 1-1.
Jordan played in the full duration of the game with Adomah being replaced by Rudy Gestede after 87 minutes of play.
