A highly classified list of powerful politicians and Ghanaians behind illegal small scale mining in Ghana has been reportedly intercepted by Joy FM.

The report according to Joy FM has top guns in the NDC and NPP being behind the illegal act in the country.

It has been alleged that aspects of the secret report names top-notched politicians as the member of parliament for Talensi in the Upper East Region and key member of the NDC, Benson Baba Tongo.

Other persons allegedly cited behind the menace are a reported to be a financier of the NPP, Bunyak Kolog and also some well respected chiefs in towns like Adieworsu, Jumako, Abura, Tonru and Mempeasem, chiefs and elders are said to be actively involved in galamsey.

Also, the head of mining firm, Bupong Construction Limited at Twifo Praso in the Central Region, Prince John Baidoo, has been roped in the report as the BNI report claims he engages in illegal mining in the Twifo Praso, Beposo, Sekyere-Krobo, Sekyere-Didieso, Basase and Sekyere-Nsuta areas of the Central and the Western Regions.

Should these reports be true, all those cited are liable to facing legal implications with chances of imprisonment also remain high due to the illegality involved in the practice of galamsey.
