Gov’t to launch investigation into contaminated fuel saga

This follows reports that BOST sold contaminated fuel to a private trading company Movenpiina which supposedly ended up at filling stations and in car engines.

The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) will soon conduct tests to determine whether contaminated fuel sold sold by the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST) was on the open market for sale.

This transaction has led to the loss of around Gh¢14 million by the State.

Chamber of Petroleum Consumers (COPEC) and the African Centre for Energy Policy (ACEP) over the decision have called for an investigation into the matter.

Govt's claim that 96% of locked-up funds in banking sector clean-up paid false - ASEPA

The <a href="https://www.pulse.com.gh/news/politics/asepa-files-criminal-complaint-against-hawa-koomson/lxzgdf2">Alliance for Social Equity and Public Accountability</a> (ASEPA) has described as false claims by the government that more than 96 percent of depositors who had their monies locked-up from the banking sector clean-up been paid in full.

The NPA says it has obtained samples of the suspected contaminated fuel from tank farms belonging to BOST on the Accra Plains.

Samples from eight tankers on the premises of Zup Oil-the depot where the oil is to be discharged have also been extracted for testing to confirm whether the contaminated product is intact.
