Man arrested for beating son with cable wire

A 52-year-old has been arraigned before a Chief Magistrates Court in Ogun State for beating up his son with cable wire.

The father identified as Olusanyo Olayinka, was reportedly arraigned before an Ota Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ogun State yesterday, July 15, 2016.

Mr Olayinka, a resident of No.3 Ejio Road, Ariybayo, Ifo, is reportedly facing a one-count charge of assault.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the prosecutor, Sgt. Chudu Gbesi, disclosed to the court that the accused committed the offence on July 3, 2016 at about 10:00am at their residence.

He went on to add that the accused assaulted his son, identity withheld, with a cable wire, inflicting several injuries to his back, emphasising that the offence breached Section 338(1) of the Criminal Code, Law of Ogun, 2006.

Mr Olayinka reportedly pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Senior Magistrate S.O. Banwo, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
