The five-year-old girl who was defiled by her teenage cousin has died at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi, the Ashanti Region capital.
She passed away at about 8 p.m. Saturday, and her body has been deposited at the hospital's morgue, Accra-based Joy FM reports.

Her health situation made it difficult for her to walk or pass waste. Afia was expected to undergo another surgery in June this year to remove a tumor in her private part which was preventing her from passing urine or waste.

Before her death, Afia was undergoing chemotherapy, but that did not stop her abdomen from swelling.
The five-year-old is expected to be buried after her body has been released to her family.
Meanwhile, the culprit, Kofi Dapaah is currently serving a 24-year jail term.
