A legal practitioner, Maurice Ampaw has called for a charge of causing financial loss to the state to be laid at the doorstep of the Attorney General in the Kwasi Kyei Darkwa (KKD) rape saga.
âIf the Attorney General knew she was going to file a Nolle Prosequi at the end of the day, why did she proceed with the case in the first place?,â Mr. Ampaw said in interview with Accra-based Atinka FM.
The state dropped its case against the entertainment personality who was standing trial for rape by filing a Nolle Prosequi, which subsequently prompted the court to discharge the fashion icon .
However, Mr. Ampaw believes the move by the Attorney General has disappointed many Ghanaians adding that the chief legal advisor to the President has caused financial loss to the state by not going the full haul in the case.

KKD walked out of court a free man Wednesday after the state went to court stating it was no longer interested in prosecuting the case. Read more
The police arrested KKD in December last year after 19-year-old Ewuraffe Orleans Thompson accused him of raping her at a hotel in Accra.
KKD denied raping her, saying that they had consensual sex.
