Could this next model be Appleâs best?
According to a rumor first reported by iDrop Newsâwho themselves were relaying the information from a source linked to the Chinese manufacturer that actually builds iPhones for Apple, Foxconnâthere is a high likelihood that the iPhone 8 (if thatâs what the marketing geniuses opt to call it) will have a full touchscreen on the front.
Get all that?
The rumors could further serve to titillate those in the public who treat phones like a new gaming console (and, judging by the masses lined up outside of Apple stores on their release dates, there are a lot of you). These rumors include a 5.8 inch OLED displayâthe biggest ever for an iPhoneâwith a touch ID underneath, slightly curved glass, an âinvisibleâ selfie camera beneath the display, virtually the same dimensions as the iPhone 7, and wireless charging, though the reports on the charging method are admittedly a bit vague.
Furthermore, the report states that there are currently two iPhone 8 prototypes being tested, one thatâs innovative, and another that is more standard. The first prototype would have Touch ID on the back, the other would have Touch ID underneath the display.
Leaked technical drawings of the soon-to-be-here phone have made their way on to the Chinese social media network, Weibo. We wonât establish the narrative for youâitâs up to you to decide whether it looks ugly or impractical or whatever. Consider, for the sake of establishing perspective, that not that long ago people were lugging around clunky Motorolas and beepers.
Oh, and also consider that the schematics could be fake. Get hyped at your own risk.
