But cheerleading isn't just an outlet for Lexi's raw talent. The Houston native has been open about the struggles in her past and how cheerleading has been a lifeline for her as she works to reset her life. As you might know if you've already binged all six episodes of the series, Lexi's storyline on Cheer does not end on the happiest note, but if her Instagram is any indication, she's back where we all know she belongs: on the mat.
Here's everything you need to know about Lexi Brumback. And if you haven't finished Cheer yet, you might want to take a backflip outta here, because spoilers ahead.
Lexi says that if it wasn't for cheerleading, she'd be "sitting in a jail cell right now."
Growing up, Lexi was in and out of trouble. Per Reality Titbit , she previous struggled with violent behavior and spent some time in juvie. But things began to change when she started cheering for Navarro College and working with the squad's head coach, Monica Aldama. According to the website, when Lexi got into a fight with another girl and the girl's friend ended up leaking nude photos of Lexi to Twitter, she opened up to Monica, who helped her report the incident to the police.
This difficult time is alluded to on the show, and through it all, it looks like Lexi's Navarro teammates have been there to support her.
"Happy birthday to this beautiful soul Lexi," wrote Gabi Butler on a Instagram post for Lexi's birthday in January. "I am so beyond proud of you and you deserve the world! You will always have a piece of my heart and just know I love you and will ALWAYS have your back."
She's a seriously talented tumbler (duh).
Lexi's strength and power on the mat shine through during the series, and she's been told she "tumbles like the boys."
After Navarro College won the National Championship in Daytona, she took to Instagram to express what the title means to her (and take the trophy for a little dip in the ocean).
"Today I felt the greatest feeling Ive ever experienced in my whole 12 years of cheerleading," she captioned the post.
Lexi spends her free time raving and partying.
Viewers got a glimpse of Lexi's high-energy lifestyle during the series, and she frequently posts photos of her and her boyfriend, Dominic Green, at shows on Instagram. When a fan responded on one post that by "taking a break from the sport" Lexi meant "raving," Lexi made sure to set the record straight.
"Even when I was still cheering I was raving as well. Huney I do BOTH " she responded.
Despite that ending, Lexi is back on the Navarro College cheer team.
Still riding high from a national championship, Lexi's life quickly shifted when she returned back to Corsicana, Texas. At the end of Cheer, viewers learned Lexi and her friends were pulled over and, when her car was searched, the police found illegal substances. Lexi took the blame and was subsequently cut from the Navarro College cheerleading program.
However, Lexi is back on the squad and ready for another year of competition. "Honey, Im home " she captioned a recent Instagram of her at Navarro College that had fans of the show, well, cheering. (Lexi officially confirmed her return in the comments section.)
And they weren't the only ones. Fellow Navarro teammate and Cheer favorite, Jerry Harris, responded to Lexi's post, commenting, "Soooooo happy to have you back!!!" (Btw, Jerry just announced he'll be back at Navarro on his Instagram , too.)
