JHS students repeated for poor performance set classrooms on fire

The inferno destroyed teaching and learning materials and other properties of the school.

Some students of the Tabiri Gyansa Junior High School who had been asked to repeat their class for poor performance have allegedly set their three-unit classroom block ablaze.

Calls were made to the fire station at Mankraso but did not yield any results.

Residents managed to salvage only a few pieces of furniture after the incident.

Teachers and pupils of the school have since been left without shelter, with community members protesting for the perpetrators to be brought to book.

Police at Mankranso have since commenced investigations into the matter.

The District Education Directorate has also promised to collaborate with community members to resettle the pupils, following advice from the District Security Committee.
