<p>In recent years, the gospel genre has successfully managed to create more super stars faster unlike before when you look at the likes of Sinach, Martin PK etc who have had their music spread all across the continent and beyond, they are stars to admire.</p>

<p>We may attribute this growth to the expansion of mega churches which hold massive international crusades of which most of them have their own broadcast television channels that air on satellite platforms, as well as the impact of social media on which a song can instantly become an international hit in a few hours and also the modernisation of sound in the gospel circles. Today, a gospel artist makes the same celebrity impact like a circular artist and can become a star with just one single released.</p>

<p>With the rise of several artist imminent, there is one particular gospel artist who might take gospel music on a whole new level, his name is Everton Mlalazi. </p>

<p>Born in Zimbabwe’s sunshine city of Harare, award-winning star Everton Mlalazi is the biggest name on the gospel scene in Zimbabwe, dominating radio charts with almost every release he has offered in the last 3 years. The singer/songwriter has created a unique new gospel sound that is inspired by his love for music and his early childhood musical influence.</p>

<p>Everton Mlalazi began his career in 2014 when he put together a musical ensemble called The Vine. He has fronted the group since then. He then launched his solo music career in the year 2020 then he released his debut album, In The Presence 1 in November of 2021 following the success of the singles Uyingcwele and Ekhaya. The launch event featured prominent South African gospel musicians Xolly Mncwango and Benjamin Dube</p>

<p>Recognising his radio charts dominance, Everton Mlalazi was awarded at Star FM Listeners Choice Awards as Best Newcomer 2020 and never slowed down releasing hit after hit, and in 2022 he was awarded Zimbabwe Music Awards’ Best Contemporary Gospel artist.</p>

<p>Having conquered Zimbabwe and setting foot in South Africa, is Africa ready for a new sound?, a new voice?, new art that has the capability of taking over? We can only wait and witness what Everton Mlalazi will offer us on his creative menu.</p>

Whilst everyone seems to be concentrating on the growth of Afrobeats and Amapiano in Africa, one of the fast growing music genres in Africa is gospel music.

Is Africa ready for Everton Mlalazi?

<p>It is worth mentioning that not all the numerous musicians in Ghana could come out of their shelves.</p>

<p>Below is the list of Ghanaians artistes who came on top in their songs, music videos and other verifiable metrics compared to other acts.</p>

<p>In no particular order, these are the top ten Ghanaian artistes in 2021.</p>

<p>Dancehall act Stonebwoy has been consistent with his craft since he broke out into the limelight over a decade ago.</p>

<p>Stonebwoy has produced many singles this year, including hits like ‘1Gad’, ‘Ariba’, ‘Greedy Men’ and many others. Stonebwoy shot and released music videos for almost all his songs this year, performing exceptionally well on streaming platforms and the airwave.</p>

<p>Nonetheless, Stonebwoy is one of the most featured Ghanaian acts this year. He was featured on the records of D-Black, Hajia4 real, Jesse Royal, Sean Paul, Obibini, among others.</p>

<p>He also performed on a tall list of concerts in Ghana and abroad. Stonebwoy marked the first anniversary of his ‘Angloga Album’ with a concert in the United Kingdom, where he pulled a massive crowd to the 02 Academy in Islington, London. He also stole the show at The Afro Jam Show in the UK. His annual Bhim concert will be coming off this December.</p>

<p>2021 did not bring enough ambassadorial deals for Stonebwoy, but he still maintained brand influencer for Tecno Mobile Ghana.</p>

<p>Rapper Sarkodie has paid his dues when it comes to showbiz this year despite the imposition of Covid-19 restrictions. His ‘No Pressure’ album came in handy to make him relevant.</p>

<p>His top songs like ‘No Fugazy’, ‘Saara’, ‘Rollies and Cigars,’ and ‘Non living Thing’ are all from the album released on July 20, 2021.</p>

<p>Sarkodie featured songstress Efya, Kwesi Arthur, Wale, Benerl, Vic Mensah, Giggs, Medikal et al on his sixth studio album.</p>

<p>On Youtube, most of his videos are gaining traction, but the new acts have successfully overshadowed him this time around.</p>

<p>The much-awaited RapperHolic Concert is on this December, as announced by the rapper. Before then, Sarkodie performed at the Ghana Party in The Park in the UK and a few places in Ghana.</p>

<p>Sarkodie secured a lot of endorsement deals in 2021 alone. He signed contracts with Vume, Ayoba, Malta Guinness, Standard Chartered Bank, Airtel-Tigo, Fanmilk, Samsung Electronics, and Pepsodent.</p>

<p>Black Sherif should come on the list of the top Ghanaian acts this year -- a breakthrough year that has brought him a lot of attention and money.</p>

<p>After his ‘First Sermon’ went viral, Black Sherif returned with the ‘Second Sermon’ that also caught fire. The ‘First Sermon’ and ‘Second Sermon’ music videos have a combined stream figure of over 10 million views.</p>

<p>‘Goldigga’ and ‘Abotr3,’ which he featured on, are all gaining traction just a few weeks after the release.</p>

<p>Black Sherif has thrilled patrons of concerts he was billed to perform. He has performed at the Karaoke With The Stars, Medikal Live Concert, UPSA, Fameye’s Family Live Concert, GIJ, etc.</p>

<p>Black Sherif is the brand ambassador for HD Decoders.</p>

<p>Wendy Shay has fought against all odds to play the game to her advantage strategically. Her ‘Shayning Star’ album contained all her top songs this year.</p>

<p>‘Heat’ and ‘Break My Waist’ seems to have found the room in the hearts of the people. She didn’t do a lot of features except with Burkinabe singer Razben’s song ‘Katiana’.</p>

<p>‘Heat’ is her best performing song on YouTube this year, with over 1.5 million views.</p>

<p>Wendy Shay has performed at concerts like Mr Drew’s Seley Concert and Ghana to The World concert in New York City.</p>

<p>Wendy Shay was unveiled this year as a brand ambassador for Pinnamang cosmetics.</p>

<p>The gospel musician has enjoyed the best year so far in her music career that spans over a decade. She won the overall Artiste of the Year for the first time at the 2021 Ghana Music Awards, becoming the first female gospel singer to achieve this feat.</p>

<p>This year alone, Diana Hamilton has released records like ‘Victory Praise,’ ‘Wani Ku Me Ho,’ and ‘Awurude Ye.’</p>

<p>The music videos of the records, as mentioned above, are doing well on online streaming platforms and the airwaves. Her banger ‘Awurude Ye’ tops it all.</p>

<p>Diana Hamilton has graced the concerts such as MTN Stand in Worship 2021, Nabaya 2021, and Aloud Mega Praise. Enterprise Life signed Diana Hamilton as their brand ambassador this year.</p>

<p>Since Medikal gained recognition, he has been so consistent each year. Either his singles become hits or his features.</p>

<p>This year, Medikal authored songs like ‘The Target,’ ‘Jah Guide,’ ‘Accra,’ ‘The Professor’ and others. He has also featured on songs with Sarkodie, Mr Drew, Shatta wale, Pappy Kojo, Show Working and others.</p>

<p>Medikal warmed the stages of concerts, including his own dubbed Medikal-Shatta Wale Concert in Kumasi, Taabea Tacuum concert, and Fameye’s Family Live Concert.</p>

<p>Mr Drew has the most hit songs in Ghana at the moment. The Highly Spiritual artiste began the year with ‘Mood’, which was received well.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He also out-doored ‘This Year’, which featured rapper Medikal. The two again dropped ‘S3k3,’ which is everywhere now. Mr Drew also recruited Kidi for ‘Sheperu.’</p>

<p>‘This Year’ is his best song with over 2.7 million views.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Apart from his Seley Concert, he has also performed at the Ghana Party in the Park in the Uk.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Mr Drew landed a deal with digital satellite company HD Plus Ghana.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>Another Ghanaian act that had a great year is KiDi. Everything he touched turned to gold. He was adjudged the overall Artiste of the Year at this year’s 3 Music Awards but missed out on the coveted award at the Ghana Music Awards.</p>

<p>‘Touch It’, ‘Mon Bebe’, ‘Spirtual,’ and ‘Send Me Nudes’ are his best songs in 2021, all from his ‘Golden Boy’ album, which featured Patoranking and Kuami Eugene.</p>

<p>‘Touch It’ is his best performing video, having over 15 million views.</p>

<p>Kidi held a mini-concert for his Golden Boy album and hosted Serenade Virtual concert. He followed with another show and performed at the MTN Hitmaker Allstar concert.</p>

<p>This year, Kuami Eugene kept his head high amid controversies and produced numerous songs. With countless hit songs like ‘Bunker,’ ‘Dollar On You,’ ‘Shaker,’ Kuami Eugene had them rotated everywhere.</p>

<p>He also featured Okyeame Kwame, Kwame Yogot, Kidi, 4x4 and Pappy Kojo.</p>

<p>‘Dollar On You’ is his best song this year, with over 3 million YouTube views.</p>

<p>Kuami Eugene successfully hosted The Rockstar concert, headlined his Thank You, and performed at the VGMA Experience concert, KiDi’s album concert and others.</p>

<p>Kuami Eugene landed a big contract with itel mobile within the year.</p>

<p>Sefa has had a better year in her music career. Her biggest song is ‘E Choke’, in which she featured Mr Drew.&nbsp;</p>

<p>She also did some featured with Gambo and Skonti. ‘E Choke’ is her best career song, with over 2.5 million Youtube views.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Sefa performed at Sarkodie’s No Pressure album live concert, Mr Drew’s Seley Concert, and Ghana Party in the Park.</p>

A whole lot of Ghanaian artistes have worked hard to produce songs for their fans this year. These artistes served music lovers the opportunities to shuffle through and curate better playlists.

<p>Medikal, who recently unveiled a 4-bedroom house in Accra, seems not to be tired of investing in properties. At least, it shows he has taken Kennedy Agyapong’s advice into account.</p>

<p>The ‘Omo Ada’ hitmaker disclosed this in his recent Twitter rant on Wednesday, December 29.</p>

<p><em>“Next year I go chop 8 years in the industry! So many properties man still de acquire,”</em> he tweeted. <em>“I hope my colleagues de do same as we de play shows de go. Make we no chop 50 and open go fund me account, Ibi we for fund dem.”</em></p>

<p>He fired his haters and revealed his new project: <em>“You go fi criticise me, laugh at my style, say I shaa but I’m on my 7th house in Aburi ! And I’m only 27 !&nbsp;I hope say we go chop 50 then you de fi pay your wifi bills tweet @ me.”</em></p>

<p>Medikal advised his fellow musicians to invest the moneies they make from shows.</p>

<p><em>“As Una de play the shows de go,make Una de save money, make Una de invest, make Una de build! It might not be like this in the next 10 to 15 years ! The friends,team &amp; girls you have around you dey with you for benefits and cuz of who you’ve become ! Only few got genuine love.”</em></p>

<p>He added: <em>“Make sure everybody is good, but put your self first all the time ! So say In the next years to come when the music no de pick again you no go find job for some kfc joint in Atlanta or New York, the way your own people go laugh you er !”</em></p>

Ghanaian hip-hop musician Medikal has disclosed that he is building his 7th house at Aburi in the Eastern Region.

<p>For some time now, some top Ghanaian musicians have been lamenting the lack of support from Ghanaians. They believe it is the reason some promising talents are yet to crossover.</p>

<p>But Leflyyy says that is not the case. For mainstream musicians to gain support from Ghanaians, they should equally support rising talents.</p>

<p>Leflyyy disclosed this during an interview with Pulse.com.gh last month.</p>

<p><em>“Everybody talks about support but it starts from somewhere,”</em> he said,<em> “I personally feel that those that are up there should help those that are coming. So that when those coming up get there, they will help the up and coming ones.”</em></p>

<p>He said if the mainstream musicians can support new talents, it will break the cycle of rising musicians having to do everything by themselves to break through the mainstream market.</p>

<p><em>“So that we will break that cycle of ‘I did it by myself’ or ‘I didn’t have somebody,’ and I pushed so you too push [alone]. No, it’s unfortunate you did it like that but that doesn’t mean the person coming up should go through the same channel.”</em></p>

<p>Leflyyy, who can rap in four different languages (Twi, Ga, French and English), said his primary market is Africa and Europe.</p>

<p><em>“My urgent target is obviously Ghana, and the French-speaking countries and also Europe. But the main focus is here; the continent, the motherland, Ghana and Africa.”</em></p>

Ghanaian afrobeats musician Leflyyy has said the ‘support your own’ mantra won’t materialise if action is not put behind it.

<p>During Christmas in Ghana, most shows and concerts are held in Accra.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Popular concerts like Sarkodie’s Rapperholic, Stonebwoy’s Bhim Concert and Ashaiman To The World, Samini’s Saminifest and Xperience concerts, Shatta Wale’s annual end of year concerts and Medikal’s Sowutuom Concerts are held in Accra.</p>

<p>But in Kumasi, this is not the case.</p>

<p>Reacting to the lack of shows in Kumasi on Christmas days, Kwaku Manu said in an Instagram post on Monday, December 27, that people in the Ashanti Region are not happy with the unfair treatment by mainstream musicians.</p>

<p><em>“During Christmas, all the chilling is done in Accra. There were no shows in Kumasi this Christmas,</em>” Kwaku Manu lamented.</p>

<p><em>“Sarkodie has done Rapperholic in Tamale and Accra but has never done one in Kumasi. When will you bring Rapperholic to Kumasi for us to enjoy you? Meanwhile, when you started rapping, Kumasi people gave you their first support.”</em></p>

<p>He continued: "<em>For Shatta Wale and Medikal, you recently played a show in Kumasi. You’ve done well, but we need you this Christmas. Kofi Kinaata should also come to Kumasi and leave Takoradi alone. Stonebwoy organised a powerful show with Beenie Man and neglected Kumasi people.”&nbsp;</em></p>

<p><em>“Why are you treating us this way? The way you are treating Kumasi people is not nice,”</em> he added.</p>

<p>In a Twitter post, the GHOne TV news anchor said men who don’t stress their partners by cheating or flirting with other girls deserve special prayers.</p>

<p>According to Serwaa Amihere – who recently donated to female inmates at the Nsawam Prison – men who don’t cheat on their partners are to be held in high esteem and protected at all cost.</p>

<p><em>“Ladies, you see the man who doesn't stress you by cheating and flirting with other girls, they deserve special prayers</em>,” Serwaa tweeted.</p>

<p>His tweet was well-received by the majority of her tweeps, especially ladies. She was highly praised for coming out to support men who stay clean in relationships.</p>

<p>It’s unclear the motive behind her tweet; however, Serwaa Amihere is known for dishing out random motivational messages and relationships advice through her Twitter page.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, on this year’s Christmas Day, Serwaa Amihere joined her co-worker Nana Aba Anamoah and other GHOne TV employees to donate some items to female inmates at the Nsawam Prison.</p>

<p>The items donated included plastic water storage and some Christmas presents.</p>

<p>Shatta Wale has been heavily criticised by the Nigerian DJ after the “Ayoo” singer used the ‘F’ word for Nigerian musicians at his recently held Freedom Wave Concert at the Accra Sports Stadium.</p>

<p>While criticising him, DJ Big N compared him with Stonewoy and asked him to learn from his smartness.</p>

<p>“My dear Shatta Wale, I watched this video more than once. I tried to see your point. We are not the enemy. You can't blatantly say f**k Nigerians and think there won't be any repercussions. We are not to blame that you are a local champion. Look at your counterpart Stonebwoy. He works smart. Stop this bickering and talk true. Naija man don collect your babe again abi?” DJ Big wrote on Instagram.</p>

<p>But in his response, Shatta Wale fired DJ Big N for attempting to create confusion between him and Stonebwoy, and further questioned his commitment in promoting the afro-dancehall musician’s songs in Nigeria.</p>

<p>“Some Nigerian dj say I should learn from Stonebwoy ,how many times have you promoted him ….You are a big shame …Don’t bring confusion format between us ..he is my blood,I don’t care how he feels about this but he knows u guys never try for him ..Shut up!!!” Shatta Wale tweeted.</p>

&nbsp;Ghanaian dancehall musician Shatta Wale has fired Nigerian DJ, DJ Big N, for ‘trying to create confusion’ between him and Stonebwoy.

<p>The sold-out concert which was held at the Grand Arena at the Accra International Conference Centre saw some enthralling performances from the headline artiste and guest performers.</p>

<p>Rapperholic concert kicked off with performances from Fameye, Kofi Jamar, Adina, Darkovibes, Sefa, Gyakie, Epixode and Jamaica’s Kranium.</p>

<p>Sarkodie’s frequent collaborators like Efya, Obrafour, Prince Bright of Buk Bak fame, KiDi, King Promise and Sista Afia joined him to perform together.</p>

<p>The highlight of the night was when Sarkodie bowed down to hiplife legend Obrafour during their performance.</p>

<p>Midway through his performance, he invited Obrafour to the stage to join him to perform their collaborations. And when Obrafour stepped on the stage, Sarkodie bowed down to him.</p>

<p>This is the second time Sarkodie has shown this gesture.</p>

<p>In 2016, Sarkodie paused during his performance at the Rapperholic concert to show some respect to Obrafour. Sarkodie has always idolised Obrafour for influencing his rap career.</p>

The 2021 edition of Sarkodie’s annual Rapperholic concert has been held.

<p>The surprise happened when he announced his yet-to-be-launched 'Pitoo the bottle,’ after dropping many hit songs during his performance.</p>

<p>Report by NYDJ says Samini heard a familiar instrumentation that made him stop his performance to say: "this beat is familiar".</p>

<p>A stunned Samini continued to look at the band members to ask what was going on and was surprised to see her former label partner K.K. Fosu appear on stage.</p>

<p>For those who are familiar with the impasse between the two, Samini knelt right in the direction of K.K. Fosu when Fosu gave her an oblique pat on the back. The duo then proceeded to sing one of their most popular singles Sudwe.</p>

Ghanaian reggae-dancehall legend Samini received the surprise of his career when his former co-star K.K. Fosu jumped on stage at the recently concluded Samini Xperience Concert.

<p>The duo’s first joint concert dubbed ‘Freedom Wave’ brought together fans from the SM4Lyf Family and MDK fan base. A video shared by Shatta Wale on his Instagram showed their fans filled up the 40,000-capacity&nbsp;Accra Sports Stadium.</p>

<p>‘Freedom Wave’ concert featured a tall list of guest artistes – including Fameye, Wendy Shay, Kelvyn Boy, Black Sherif, Mr Drew and Hajia4Reall.</p>

<p>Shatta Wale said the show was a big success. "It’s God. #Freedomwave Big success" he wrote on Instagram.</p>

<p>Medikal, on the other hand, thanked his fans and supporting artistes. “History was made last night ! Bigup AMG SM DTB ! Big thanks to every artists who came to support, big thanks to the fans, we love y’all die,” Medikal noted.</p>

<p>‘Freedom Wave’ was inspired by Shatta Wale and Medikal’s recent battle with the law. The two were recently arrested and charged for separate crimes.</p>

<p>Shatta Wale was arrested in October for faking a shooting incident. And as for Medikal, he was arrested for brandishing a gun on social media.</p>

<p>Shatta Wale and Medikal’s joint concert ‘Freedom Wave,’ which happened at the Accra Sports Stadium last night, saw massive attendance, alongside a tight list of guest performances.</p>

<p>But Medikal’s performance, which was interrupted by his wife, was the icing on the cake. It was the highlight of the night.</p>

<p>During Medikal’s performance, Fella Makafui was reportedly unhappy with his dance moves. And to spice things up, she stepped on the stage to twerk for him.</p>

<p>Her move was praised by many social media users who saw the video. She was called ‘Wifey of the Year’.</p>

<p>“Wifey of the year,” Instagram user and famous video vixen ‘tilly_hipsy’ commented on the video.</p>

<p>“Supportive wife,” Instagram user’ nanaesimintahleogard’ said.</p>

<p>“See how dey are dancing on their enemies,” said ‘ahgideby’.</p>

<p>Instagram user ‘akwasi_antwi_pinamang’ commented: “Love they way she is always there to boost the Hubby’s performance.”</p>

<p>“These two are like Ghana’s Cardi b and offset,” said ‘shee_lolla.’</p>

<p>Another Instagram user ‘rolexcarter22’ added: “Very eye supportive.”</p>

<p>Medikal and Fella Makafui have been married for more than a year. The celebrity couple have a beautiful daughter named Island Frimpong.</p>

<p>The 2021 edition of the Rapperholic Concert saw a lot of surprises, but one that has generated a lot of buzz is Sarkodie’s performance with Obrafour.</p>

<p>In 2016, Sarkodie paused during his performance at the Rapperholic concert to show some respect to Obrafour.</p>

<p>Sarkodie has always idolised Obrafour for influencing his rap career.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Explaining why he admires Obrafour in a 2013 interview, he stated that: “Obrafour is not profane. He does not use profane lyrics like we the young ones do these days, but he is still relevant, and I like him for that.”</p>

<p>Sarkodie and Obrafour have done back-to-back collaborations.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In 2010, Sarkodie featured Obrafour on his hit song “Life,” and in 2015, he featured the legend on “Always On My Mind” off his “Mary” album. He also grabbed him for “Saa Okodie No”, released in 2016 and the most recent one, “Hope,” released in 2018.</p>

<p>Obrafour also got Sarkodie for his hit single “Moesha,” released in 2018.</p>

Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie has once again demonstrated his utmost respect for Obrafour as he bows down to the hiplife legend for the second time.

<p>The “16 Years” hitmaker was caught up in the Papa No saga involving former President John Mahama, Afia Schwarzenegger and Tracey Boakye back in 2016. She was allegedly dating the former President and had fights with Tracey Boakye, who was allegedly dating Mahama as well.</p>

<p>But after the brouhaha cooled down, Mzbel says her life hasn’t been the same.</p>

<p>According to her, she has faced many life problems since the issue – and that includes a birthday shoot where she suddenly fell ill.</p>

<p>Today marks Mzbel’s 42nd birthday, but her usual photoshoot routine was cancelled after falling sick. He blamed the sickness on spiritually.</p>

<p>Narrating how she suddenly fell sick on set of her birthday shoot, she said: “Spiritual Attacks are REAL and for me I believe Genuine Spirituality is the only way! Mzbelievers, bribi wo wiase yi mu oo! Believe Me! Ever since the "PAPA NO" brouhaha my life hasn't been the same!”</p>

<p>She continued: “This was supposed to be my birthday Photoshoot...Woke up strong, healthy and happy but weird things happened and the shoot had to be cancelled! Mzbelievers we may not have pictures to post today but I promise u, once there's life any day can be our Birthday! We will do this shoot all over again before the year ends!”</p>

<p>“@elizadina_couture thank u so much for quickly switching from my designer to a Powerful Prayer Warrior! I was told u and your team spend hours just praying for me! And to all my African Spiritual Teachers and friends I wish u pure love and blessings from the Universe and our Ancestors for coming through for me!”</p>

<p>She added: “My chaperone Lioness Makeda thank u for everything, especially your encouragement. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME KAMA NAKUTSO.”</p>

Ghanaian afro-pop/hiplife songstress Mzbel has disclosed that her life hasn’t been the same ever since the ‘Papa no’ saga.

<p>The “Konkonsa” hitmaker took the internet by surprise when he dropped a naked photo on his Instagram page.</p>

<p>On December 25, Wanlov shared a photo gallery containing two photos.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The first photo is an artwork of how planet earth has been seriously damaged by human activities.&nbsp;But the second one is a naked photo of him at a waterfall. He covered his private part with a Black Santa emoji.</p>

<p>He captioned the photo: "There is only one animal I know of that destroys its environment by exploiting limited resources to fuel its quest to destroy other worlds."</p>

<p>The controversial post attracted lots of comments.</p>

<p>“Pls where can I buy prints of the second photo to frame and put on every wall in my house pls?” Instagram user ‘thesaraali’ asked.</p>
