A recent review by fitness equipment review site known as FitRated.com, has found that gym equipment is more likely to have more bacteria than a toilet. Yikes!

27 pieces of equipment from three gym chains were sampled and it was discovered that:

Free weights had an average of more than 1.1 million colony-forming units per square inch, which when compared to toilets is well, a lot.

You will find 172 colony-forming units per square inch on an average toilet seat. This is according to the National Sanitation Foundation.
