Carole Baskin is not a fan of the docuseries. We can't say we're surprised. Here's what she said in a <a href="https://bigcatrescue.org/refuting-netflix-tiger-king/" id="c4b6e788-d1e9-37ae-a2c0-03fcd2fbf133"> blog post </a> she published on her website about the Netflix show: "There are not words for how disappointing it is to see that the series...has had the sole goal of being as salacious and sensational as possible to draw viewers." Filmmakers say there was a lack of evidence in Baskin's husband's death. "We subpoenaed phone records, and they don't exist anymore in the records," Chaiklin told <a href="https://www.esquire.com/entertainment/tv/a31814672/tiger-king-netflix-directors-eric-goode-rebecca-chaiklin-filming-experience/" id="8b2b0578-3493-3a3f-a058-75c2c954874b"> Esquire </a> . Baskin had a boyfriend after her husband's death. This happened before Baskin married her current husband, Howard Baskin. Netflix

Howard Baskin has spoken out in defense of his wife. "In 15 years of living together, we have never had an argument," he said in the <a href="https://www.facebook.com/bigcatrescue/videos/218795152523404/" id="75d855da-4914-3d82-ac9d-3aec949686ea"> video on Facebook </a> after the show came out. Baskin says she settled her lawsuit with Exotic's mother. According to her <a href="https://bigcatrescue.org/refuting-netflix-tiger-king/" id="c4b6e788-d1e9-37ae-a2c0-03fcd2fbf133"> blog post </a> , after Shirley Schreibvogel admitted to a list of fraudulent activities she participated in with Exotic, the Baskins did not require her to make any payments to them and did not take her house. It is important to understand that this series is not a documentary; its sensationalized entertainment with paid participants. Tiger King is the bizarre story of Joe and Carole and their feud. These characters are not representative of experts in the wildlife sector or world class facilities like ours here in Myrtle Beach." Netflix

After the zoo fire, Rick Kirkham's house burned down. But the G.W. Zoo is still operating. Goode told <a href="https://ew.com/tv/tiger-king-producers-interview-joe-exotic/" id="bc1b201f-1f09-31ee-a478-5a1ae3dfc973"> Entertainment Weekly </a> : "All I can tell you is that he [Jeff Lowe] is basically operating on fumes. No one is going now and there's no source of income, and that's been going on for a long time." And Goode reiterated that Lowe's financial issues were there long before the COVID-19 pandemic began. It's unclear what will happen to the animals. If Goode had to guess, he doesn't think all of the animals will survive. Lowe had to sell his Ferrari for the zoo. That's right. Because Lowe said he and Lauren are "committed to the care of hundreds of animals who rely on us to keep them safe and healthy," according to <a href="https://popculture.com/streaming/2020/03/30/tiger-king-cast-where-are-they-now/#7" id="b83c2251-f5db-3a13-aa53-b5b6714b162b"> Pop Culture </a> . Lowe and Exotic almost opened a bisexual strip club/petting zoo. They were going to buy the land next to the zoo for this extension and call it "Tigers and Dreams," <a href="https://twitter.com/robertmoor_/status/1243977933280051202" id="d22afed7-6f0c-3ee9-a943-3094a889ad36"> according to Moor </a> . Exotic's zoo had alligators from Neverland Ranch. <a href="https://twitter.com/robertmoor_/status/1244896090974900224" id="b61c3a4e-0a75-3da8-a91d-b9161e2c5d5b"> Moor said </a> he first started looking into this when the Los Angeles Times published a story, titled "Michael Jackson's Alligators Burned Alive in Animal Park Fire."
