Meet the 7 Ghanaians who made the list of Most Influential People Of African Descent

The Most Influential People of African Descent (MIPAD) 100 is a global initiative in support of the United Nation’s International Decade for People of African Descent.

Virgil Ablorh, Oheneba Ama Nti Osei and Rebecca Akosua Acheampong (Becca) are among the people representing Ghana in the 2018 list of Most Influential People of African Descent (MIPAD).

They won places under the media and culture category.

MIPAD recently shared its 100 most influential people of 2018 list. The annual list features some of Africa's most significant artists, leaders, scientists, activist and entrepreneurs.

This year Donald Glover, Kendrick Lamar, Davido made the list among other notable big names. We also spotted several personalities from Ghana that made the coveted list.

Under the Politics and Governance category Kow Essuman and Zanetor Agyemang Rawlings were named.

Valerie Obaze and Sefa Gohoho Boatin also made it under the business and entrepreneurship category, an accolade that reaffirms their relentless effort to transform the African landscape and shape positive African narrative on the global stage.

The announcement was made in Los Angeles by the executive team, honorees and partners of the Most Influential People of African Descent (MIPAD) on 25th June 2018.

Most Influential People of African Descent (MIPAD) is a global civil society initiative in support of the International Decade for People of African Descent, proclaimed by United Nation's General Assembly resolution 68/237 and to be observed from 2015 to 2024.

MIPAD is a unique global list that identifies 200 high achievers, under the age of 40, of African descent in public and private sectors worldwide,  100 based inside Africa, and 100 outside Africa in the Diaspora as a progressive network of relevant actors to join together in the spirit of supporting the international decades theme of recognition, justice and development of Africa, its people on the continent and across its Diaspora.
