Coach of the team, Paa Kwasi Fabin has however downplayed the fear, saying this generation is the best squad he has coached in his six year tenure as coach of the team.
Ghana's exit from the U-17 World Cup in India at the quarter final stage has raised questions about the level of talent being developed in the country and their ability to compete with their mates from around the world .
Business Insider SSA looks at the players from the squad who have the potential to become true world class talent.
Edmund Arko Mensah -Wa All Stars
The ungainly defender from Wa All Stars is not the flashiest of players but has a high IQ and amazing technical understanding for one so young. Those are assets that will take him far in his career.
Eric Ayiah -Charity Stars
The captain of the team did not enjoy the best of tournaments in India but make no mistake, Ayiah has all the skills to succeed. He is profligate but that is a flaw he can tidy up with experience. He already has good instincts for making runs and is comfortable leading the line as a pure striker or behind the striker. Charity Stars have a rich recent history of producing talent and Ayiah is their star pupil.
Isaac Gyamfi -New Life
The New Life FC midfielder has work to do on his passing range and decision making but he showed in India that he could get a job done. He has a good engine and applies himself well. Will need to add some invention to his game.
Mohammed Aminu - WAFA
The WAFA starlet paid the price for overestimating himself and underestimating his opponents by losing his place in the team. It is a good lesson in humility for a supremely talented player who has already been penned down by Manchester City.
Najeeb Yakubu
The center back is a brilliant tackler and organiser. He needs to develop his reading of the game but he is on the right path.
Sadiq Ibrahim -RTD
His absence cost Ghana but the lightening quick forward can look forward to a big career ahead of him. He is in the right environment at Right to Dream Academy and is already technically astute for one so young.
