Twitter introduces 'Twitter Lite' in 24 new countries

Twitter has announced the release of Twitter Lite to 24 new countries including 6 African countries.

Twitter has released, Twitter Lite, a version that offers users a new mobile web experience that minimizes data usage, loads quicker on slower connections, and is more resilient on unreliable mobile networks.

In version is available to 24 new countries including six African countries; South Africa, Nigeria, Algeria, Egypt, Tunisia and Tanzania.

Twitter Lite was launched in April this year with a feature that reduces data usage by up to 70%, making it more affordable for you to use Twitter in areas where mobile data is expensive.

To make the application more discoverable, a test was carried out in the Philippines in September 2017 and based on positive results, the application has been made available on Play Store in 24 new countries.

Aside data minimization, the company has reduced the install size of the application to under 3MB so it doesn’t take much space on your phone.

The Product manager, Jesar Shah, made the announcement via a post on the company’s blog.
