An Accra High Court has annul the Klottey Korle constituency primary of the opposition New Patriotic Party.

The court granted an application by Nii Noi Nortey to join the suit filed by two defeated parliamentary candidate, Philip Addison and Nii Adjei Tawiah against the outcome of the Klottey Korle primary.

The court presided over by Mrs Justice Patience Mills-Tetteh, ordered Nii Noi to file an amended writ and a new statement of claim within two weeks and serve same on all the parties in the case in which the plaintiffs are contesting the conduct of the parliamentary primary.

Their suit comes months after they gave the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) a seven day ultimatum to address their concerns.

The two had accused the Electoral Commission (EC) of conniving with some constituency executives to rob him of votes adding that the process was flawed because “people who voted were not qualified.”

They also sued both the NPP and the Electoral Commission and prayed the court to annul the results of the primary which elected Nii Noi Nortey as the parliamentary candidate.

Addison had petitioned the party’s National Executive Committee to investigate the conduct of the primary but the petition was dismissed, which made Philip Addison Nii Adjei to proceed to court.
