In a new Instagram video, Dr. Pimple Popper aka, dermatologist and TLC host Dr. Sandra Lee, MD removes black pepper-like blackheads sprinkled across a patient's cheek. Though she only shows one removal in particular, the famed derm makes up for it by including a hard-to-reach ear pop that shows her skill. In the clip, Dr. Lee uses a comedown extractor to remove both blemishes. The blackhead comes out with a worm-life wiggle, while the ear bump needs a push and a scrape to be set free. "Sometimes it's just the little things," Dr. Lee captioned the video. What a sentimental statement to pair with such dermatological horrors. The bump in the patient's ear is likely a small cyst filled with keratin called milia . The growths commonly form on the face but can sometimes bury within the ear. While "milia" might not be a familiar vocabulary word, "blackhead" sure is. A blackhead is a single pore filled with dead skin and oil, which forms a black "head" when exposed to air. The white portion of a blackhead is actually the same material as the black cap, only this material hasn't been oxidized to create a black coloring. "Why am I so fascinated with ear pops?" one fan commented on the video. It's a very good, very puzzling question. Check out the duo of pops below. They go together like salt and pepper.
