Sulley Muntari’s ‘ghost goal’ could have changed the history of Italian football- Ex-AC Milan CEO

In February 2012 the Rossoneri were leading 1-0 against Juventus at San Siro, when Gigi Buffon made a stunning save from a Philippe Mexes’ header.

Sulley Muntari pounced on the rebound, and while the Bianconeri goalkeeper pushed it back out, it had clearly crossed the line.

Juventus snatched the equalizer in the late minute of the game and went all the way to win the first of their seven consecutive league titles.

However, the former Milan CEO believes things could have been different if that goal had been allowed.

“Certainly VAR is eliminating a long of mistakes,” Galliani told SportMediaset.

“Who knows, with that Muntari goal maybe the history of Italian football could have changed. It’s useless to talk about the past though, we look forward.”
