310,000 BECE candidates get SHS placement

Some disgruntled parents and guardians besieged the premises of the CSSPS as the deadline for placement of BECE candidates who qualified for SHS placement but were not posted expired

Deputy Minister of Education, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum at a press conference in Accra on Thursday said "110, 000 students out of the 156,000 have gone through the self-placement portal and had selected their own schools."

He said about 156,000 students who did not get placement by the computerised system were given the opportunity to do self-selection.

"We hope by close of the day more students would go through the self-selection portal to select schools for themselves," he said.

Some disgruntled parents and guardians on Thursday, September 7, besieged the premises of the CSSPS as the deadline for placement of BECE candidates who qualified for SHS placement but were not posted expired.

Some complained of their inability to access the placement website.

The unhappy parents and their wards said they are making frantic efforts to get their preferred placement but the deputy education Minister said heads of the various schools to avail themselves for the students to present their admission letters and register for the academic year, before Monday September 11.

"Headmasters are being informed to prepare the schools for the registration processes to start from today through the weekend," he added.
