The need to satisfy the thirst for western lifestyles have contributed to the introduction of various e-commerce shops.Amongst these is ahonya.com, which is an online store that also provides a delivery service in Ghana. But how fast and effective is ahonya delivery service?

Some concerns of Ghanaians about online shopping is the authenticity of the platform. Most shops aboard do not accept payment made with the cedi. Therefore payments are made to the e-commerce platform, who in turn make your purchases. This makes it a bit risky, as you entrust your money to total strangers behind their computers. And hope they purchase and deliver your goods. Others who are fortunate to have access to foreign cards can make direct payments on the online retail shops.

Delivery is a key part when shopping online. After selecting your items and making payments, most people would now have to consider their delivery options. A few online shops also offer delivery as part of their services. A convenience that buyers look out for when ordering on an online platform. Ahonya delivery provides delivery services to customers who shop online through their website at ahonya.com. And delivery is free nationwide! Talk about icing on the cake.

Ahonya.com is an e-commerce platform and one of the entrepreneurial moves by our Ghanaian youth to provide employment whilst satisfying a need. Ahonya.com allows customers to purchase items from aboard. Through online stores such as Amazon.com and eBay. They have a well structure website with a user-friendly interface. Items and retail shops have also been categorically listed. Items vary from electronics to fashion and accessories and shops also feature different brands from all over the world.

Payment methods are not limited to VISA/MasterCard. Mobile money is also inclusive. This is a very thoughtful gesture on their part as mobile money is a frequented method of payment in Ghana. It is with such ease that people order online using ahonya.com

I daresay, I have not experienced Ahonya services myself. But as referrals go they haven’t earned quite a lot of respect. Out of 15 people I questioned, only 4 had a positive feedback for me. They spoke of the affordable shipping rates and convenience of shopping via mobile money. And how easy it was to place an order.

Others had their complaints ranging from terrible customer service, sloppy service and delayed delivery. As at the time I talked to some they had not received their packages which they ordered and paid for 2 months ago. This is very troubling because ahonya.com advertises delivery within 5-15 working days on their webpages.

Online reviews also followed similar pattern with some disheartening revelations. With people cautioning others not to repeat their mistakes by shopping on Ahonya. Some recounted very frightening experiences where, after ordering and making payments they were ignored. Not only did customers not receive their packages at the scheduled time but couldn’t reach any of their numbers provided for a refund.

There are exceptions to certain cases and I hope ahonya.com is one of those exception. Ahonya delivery may not have some very good reviews out there, but am sure there have times when they acted appropriately. Reviews are very important for any company. As these can make or break any start-up/company. I hope Ahonya Ghana Limited is working on resolving these issue with their disgruntled customers.

Sadly I must give them 5/10. This is to applaud them on their efforts to create an online shopping experience. I hope they are able to resolved their issues and provide a memorable experience.
