Germany visa 'connection man' nabbed by police

An alleged travel agent fraudster, known in popular parlance as a ‘connection man’ has been apprehended by the police for deceiving a desperate wannabe traveler under the guise of providing traveling documents to Germany at a GH¢30,000 cost.

Police report that the suspect, Elijah Ansah who works as a graphic designer, went missing after allegedly squandering the victim’s money.

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Accra Regional Police ASP Efia Tenge told journalists that the victim had previously made a GH¢4,000 down payment but was convinced to pay up his arrears after a picture evidence of the passport was sent to him via phone.

For now, Elijah has been charged with fraud until any further investigations are conducted.

The victim confessed that in December 2016, he made his travel intentions known to the alleged fraudster who happened to live in the same neighborhood with him.

The victim was later promised a visa if he could pay a GH¢30,000 fee.

On Tuesday, July 25, 2017, the victim reported the suspect to the police after the suspect had failed to deliver.

He was incarcerated and kept in custody following the victim’s complaint.

In a statement made by the Elijah Ansah, the suspect acceded to his guilt and refunded GH¢7,100 of the money to the police.

He is still in custody assisting the police in their investigations.
