Rawlings mourns ‘true statesman’ KB Asante

The laste KB Asante passed on on Monday at the age of 93.

The former State Secretary gave up the ghost on Monday at the age of 93.

Rawlings described him as a “true statesman”, insisting Ghana has lost a gentleman and a patriot.

In a heartfelt Twitter post the former president paid tribute to the late KB Asante, whiles sending words of condolence to the bereaved family.

Rawlings tweeted: "Ghana has lost a true statesman. K. B. Asante was a gentleman, historian, public-spirited person, a patriot and a genuine Nkrumaist. My sincere condolences to his family. Rest in peace Mr K. B. Asante.”

The late KB Asante served in many capacities as a statesman and a senior citizen of the land.

He became Secretary to Ghana’s First President, Dr Kwame Nkrumah, before serving as Principal Secretary at the African Affairs Secretariat from 1960 to 1966.

He also served as Ghana’s ambassador to a number of nations, including Switzerland, Belgium and Luxemburg.
