Jordin Sparks has called out Billboard for promoting an interview they conducted with a headlining about her ex-boyfriend, Jason Derulo.
Billboard published a story online on Monday, August 24 with the headline, 'Jordin Sparks on the 'Pain and Confusion' From Her Breakup With Jason Derulo'.
She claimed while she discussed the split in the interview, most of her quotes are actually about her new album, which is her first in sex years.
The article is structured in a fill-in-the-blank format, with Sparks giving answers for queries like âmy biggest comeback fear,â âmy musical hero,â and âmy most sentimental new song.â Itâs only for the last one, âmy rebound,â that Sparks alludes to Derulo, saying, ''People think that a celebrity breakup is different, and it is in the way that itâs public. But you still feel the same sort of pain and confusion. I just had to deal with it. And I played Big Seanâs âI Donât F*ck With Youâ multiple times a day!â
Sparks apparently felt that focusing on the part about Derulo misrepresented the entirety of her quotes, and she let Billboard know on Twitter, writing,
Billboardâs online post notes that âthis story originally appeared in the Aug. 29 issue of Billboard,â but itâs unclear if the print version was paired with a sensational headline as well.
The outlet has not responded to Sparkâs tweet, nor has it changed the headline and tweet.
