Parramatta Eels inflicted more misery on old rivals Manly Sea Eagles as Michael Gordon's late penalty earned a narrow 10-9 victory at Pirtek Stadium.

Earlier on Friday, Manly released a statement insisting they are co-operating fully with an investigation into alleged match-fixing and will continue to assist after fresh claims were made in the Australian media in relation to irregular betting patterns in their return fixture against the Eels this season.

It appeared as though the visitors would earn some off-field respite as Apisai Koroisau's try, Daly Cherry-Evans's drop goal and four points from Dylan Walker's boot put them into a 9-8 lead.

But with the clock winding down, Gordon kept his cool by splitting the posts with a 40-metre kick at goal to end the Eagles' four-match winning run and striking a blow to their NRL Finals hopes.

In a match dominated by defence, the Eels started the brighter and Bevan French touched down after collecting his own grubber kick in the sixth minute.

The Eagles moved ahead after scoring seven points towards the end of the half, as Koroisau dived for the line from close-range with Walker adding the extras, before Cherry-Evans' drop goal saw the visitors lead by one at the break.

Gordon and Walker exchanged kicks early in the second half and the Eagles had seemingly done enough to earn a big win.

But there was time for one last twist as the Eagles were penalised for an off-the-ball shoulder charge and Gordon's accurate boot settled the contest.
