Angelique Kerber and Johanna Konta's career-high rankings have been confirmed following their success at the Australian Open.

Kerber shocked reigning champion Serena Williams in the women's singles final to claim her first grand slam title at the age of 28.

The German rises to number two behind Williams as a result, leapfrogging Simona Halep, Agnieszka Radwanska, Garbine Muguruza and Maria Sharapova.

Konta, who Kerber beat in the last four, is up 19 places to 28th after exceeding all expectations at Melbourne Park.
