Roger Federer is set to take compete at the Madrid Open as he steps up his preparation for the French Open.
The event at Roland Garros in May was initially to be Federer's only outing on clay this season, but he made his comeback from a knee injury at the Monte Carlo Masters this month.
The world number three suffered a quarter-final exit against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in Monaco and has now added the competition in the Spanish capital to his schedule.
Federer has won the Madrid Open on three separate occasions, most recently in 2012 when he defeated Tomas Berdych in the final.

"Federer is one of the best players in history and Madrid is a special place for him," read a statement from tournament director Manolo Santana.
"We are delighted to have him back in the Caja Magica. In addition, he is one of the fans' favourites because of everything he has achieved in his career. We will be welcoming him with open arms."
The Madrid Open is scheduled to begin on May 1.
