The outspoken New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Assin Central Kennedy Agyapong has heaped praises on Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, describing him as a visionary leader and one of the best the country has had so far.
According to him, the current president, Nana Akufo-Addo has to do more in terms of the implementation of policies and other development projects in order to match up with Dr Nkrumah.
“The things Kwame Nkrumah did, Nana Akufo-Addo has a challenge because he has to do a lot to beat his record. Dr Kwame Nkrumah was a dreamer. He did a lot for Ghana”, he said on Adom TV.

The MP, however, believes that all those who complemented the work of Kwame Nkrumah and played significant roles towards Ghana’s independence should also be recognized.
““What I believe is that they can set a founders day so we celebrate it once. They should set it as “founders’ day” to showcase everyone’s role they played each year. It can even educate the citizenry in terms of history. I don’t have problem with that…This can also serve as education for the youth”, he said.
President Nana Akufo-Addo over the weekend proposed legislation to Parliament to designate 4th August as Founders Day and 21st September as Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Day.
If passed by Parliament, both days will be observed as public holidays, a statement signed by the Director of Communications at the presidency, Mr Eugene Arhin said.
But many who are against the move believe that it is a deliberate ploy to undermine the legacy of Dr Kwame Nkrumah.
