The former FC Augsburg defender failed to hold onto a starting place at Chelsea last season after he joined them from the Bundesliga.

Baba Rahman was told by new Chelsea manager, Antonio Conte to go on loan, because he is too offensive, against the defensive style, the Italian trainer wants his team to play.

The Ghana international after weighing options decided to reunite with his former boss at his new club Schalke 04 on one-year loan deal in order to get much playing time.

Kurt Okraku believes Rahman’s move to Schalke was not a mistake.

"Honestly, we have been smart," Okraku was quoted as saying by Joy Sports.

"From his time at Dreams FC to when he signed for Greuther Furth, lots of stellar clubs wanted to sign him, but he went to Furth and made it there.

"From there, he could have opted for money from the Russians, but he went to Augsburg.

"When Barcelona, Juventus, Atletico Madrid showed interest, we decided to go to London, and we have made the decision again [with his latest move to Schalke].

"I think we have not made mistakes, and Baba is happy. He has not lost one penny in terms of remuneration.

"His contract is intact, and he is a happy boy and he is going to impress in Germany."
