Season three of Stranger Things will take place in the summer of 1985, when musicians like Michael Jackson, Prince, Bruce Springsteen, and Madonna were popular, as Forbes points out. The show could also choose to go a little more alternative with picks from David Bowie, The Cure, or R.E.M.

Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein of the band Survive are largely responsible for the show's score and soundtrack for season one and two, but it's unclear if they'll be back for season three. In 2016, the duo told Rolling Stone how they pick the music for the show, and how they want people to feel when they listen to it. "You know, happy and nostalgic and remembering their childhood as well...but then being scared as fuck," Dixon said.
