Watch Dr. Pimple Popper Pull a Ribbon of Sebum from a Giant Cyst

Early Friday afternoon can be a rough time of the week. Most of us are still stuck at work, daydreaming about happy hour or-cards on the table-a chance to sit on the couch and do nothing until National Game of Thrones Night on Sunday.

Dr. Pimple Popper-aka, Dr. Sandra Lee, MD-feels your pain, and she's here to make your Friday afternoon a little bit better. Or as she cheerfully puts it in the caption to her latest Instagram post, "Here's a ribbon of sunshine for your Friday!"

It's debatable, as always, whether or not her latest offering will actually do that for you. This clip opens with Dr. Lee mid-procedure, working on a steatocystoma-judging by the hashtag, at least-which is a type of cyst. Although Dr. Lee doesn't provide too much context in the video, steatocystomas often emerge within what's known as a steatocystoma multiplex, a skin disorder "characterized by the development of multiple steatocystomas," according to the National Institute of Health .

The cysts originate in the sebaceous glands, and they're filled with sebum-that's the yellow, ribbon-like discharge that Dr. Lee pinches out in the video. Most of the time, we like sebum: It's the stuff that moisturizes and protects your skin and hair and keeps you looking youthful. In other words, sebum isn't something to be afraid of, or that you want to eliminate entirely. When you produce too much of it, however, your hair starts to look greasy and shiny, and your skin can break out. If that's where you think things are headed, there are a number of over the counter products that can help you out.
