Janet Amponsah drops out in women's 200m race

Ghanaian athlete Janet Amponsah could not qualify in her heat for the women's 200m race at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

The Ghanaian runner placed 6th in a group of eight with a time record of 23.67s.

Marie-Josee Ta Lou from Cote d’Ivoire was first in the race with Elaine Thompson and Gina Luckenkemper coming in second and third position respectively to qualify.

Janet Amponsah is one of the 16 athletes representing Team Ghana at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

Other Ghanaian athletes including Kaya Forson, Abeiku Jackson, Szandra Szogedi, Sean Safo-Antwi, Alex Amankwah have all been eliminated from their respective competitions at the Olympic Games.
