Shatta Wale to perform at CAF Awards Gala

The renowned dancehall musician, Shatta Wale will put a performance at the 2017 Aiteo CAF Awards Gala on Thursday evening

Shatta Wale is expected to electrify the International Conference Centre this evening when he performs at the Aiteo CAF Awards Gala on Thurday.

The 2017 CAF Awards gala which will crown deserving footballers on the African continent for their contribution to the beautiful game in the calendar will host several football legends, both active and retired.

Shatta Wale who is popular in the Sub Saharan Africa for his song will be up stage to entertain the crowd during the ceremony.

The dancehall musician confirmed his appearance for the ceremony in a tweet by the headline sponsor, Aiteo.

Among the notable named that have been invited to grace the occasion are the Ghanaian quartet of Abedi Pele Ayew, three times winner of the African Footballer of the Year Award, Ibrahim Sunday, the first Ghanaian to be crowned king of African football, Abdul Razak, the winner of the 1978 Footballer of the Year and Sammy Osei Kuffour, two times runner-up.

George Weah, President elect of Liberia and three times winner of the African Footballer of the Year is also expected to lit up the event with his presence.

Others are Nigerian trio, Emmanuel Amuneke, Nwankwo Kanu and Victor Ikpeba, Cameroonian and four-time winner, Samuel Eto’o Fils and compatriot Patrick Mboma, Ivorian Yaya Toure, a four-time winner and countryman Didier Drogba, El Hadji Diouf of Senegaland Ryad Mahrez- the last winner of the award.

The rest are Mustapha Hadji of Morocco, Malian Frederic Kanoute, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Gabon and Togolese Emmanuel Adebayor.

Meanwhile, Egyptian Mohamed Salah, Gabon’s Aubameyang and Sadio Mane of Senegal are the contenders for the prestigious African Player of the Year whilst the trio of Asisat Oshoala (Nigeria), Chrestina Kgatlana (South Africa) and Gabrielle Aboudi Onguene (Cameroon) battle it out for the Women’s Player of the Year.
