Jordan to get competition from Chelsea star at Aston Villa

Jordan Ayew to battle Loic Remy for a spot as Remi Garde shows interest in 'special' Chelsea forward

Ghanaian player Jordan Ayew is set to get competition upfront at Aston Villa as manager Remi Garde seeks to boost his side’s chances of surviving relegation in the upcoming transfer window.

Aston Villa have won just a single game since the start of the season and are currently rock bottom on the Premier League log with eight points from 19 fixtures.

Remi Garde who took over from Tim Sheerwood at Aston Villa has targeted Chelsea forward Loic Remy in the January transfer window, calling the France international ‘special’.

Garde said of Loic Remy:

“Loic is a guy I know well, he would be an interesting player for the team.

“I can't tell you [our chances of signing him]. He is part of some players I try to attract to Aston Villa for sure.

“Loic is quite a special one, he knows the country, the league. I have some targets that would be this level maybe without knowing country and league.”

Loic Remy is struggling to get playing time at Chelsea and the possibility of playing for Jordan Ayew’s side is highly probable.

The France international has started just a single Premier League game all season.
