Organisers drop “Best Actor/Actress” category to be gender neutral

The decision indicates that there will be no “best actor” and “best actress” award separately but in one category.

The organisers of the MTV Movie & TV Awards have announced that they, as well as their nominees will be ditching the best actor/actress categories, allowing them to keep things a little more neutral.

This decision indicates that there will be no “best actor” and “best actress” award separately but one category in which all actors will compete which is “Best Actor in a Movie” and “Best Actor in a Show”.

According to MTV, the non-gendered awards will put Emma Watson and Taraji P. Henson against Hugh Jackman and James McAvoy for “best actor in a movie” and Stranger Things‘ Millie Bobby Brown and Game Of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke in competition with The Walking Dead’s Jeffrey Dean Morgan for “best actor in a show”.
