Asanteman commemorates one week of Asantehemaa's death

Nana Afia Kobi, the Asante queen, died at the age of 111. She was the biological mother of the reigning king.

The Kumasi Traditional Council today (Thursday) performed the one week celebration over the death of Asantehemaa Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem.

She passed way "peacefully at her palace on Monday November 14, 2016."

Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II "has been the pillar of strength and a source of wisdom behind the transformational reign of His Majesty Otumfour Osei Tutu II."

After the death of his mother, political parties and people from various walks of life have sympathised with the Asantehene Otumfuor Osei Tutu II.

“I thank my fans, my supporters, and everybody. I also thank MTN Ghana for giving us this platform to raise awareness and continue helping children with cerebral palsy,” Martha said in an emotional speech after receiving the award.

She is the 39th Asantehemaa of the Ashanti Kingdom.
