NDC leaders visit party delegates involved in accident

The accident, according to reports occurred at the traffic light at El-Wak Sports stadium Saturday afternoon.

The National Chairman, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, who led the executives to visit the victims who are on admission at the 37 Military hospital said the party will make the welfare of its members a paramount concern under his leadership.

He said the party will take up the medical bills of the victims.

"We will not let them lack anything as far as they are here at the hospital; the party will arrange some deposits for them. We are also here with the Ashanti Regional Chairman who indicated that some deposits have also been made against drugs and other related expenses.

"So, in all, the party has shown concern, the party will continue to show concern for all party members who find themselves in such situations, especially when they were on their way to Congress. It means they are suffering in the line of duty. The welfare of our party members is one of the concerns of the new national executives," he added.

It is not clear yet how the accident happened or the number of casualties.

However, reports suggest the vehicles conveying party supporters and delegates from the Mpraeso in the Eastern Region and Konongo in the Ashanti Region suffered a brake failure. In an attempt to avoid crashing into other vehicles, the driver rammed into one of the traffic lights.

The injured were rushed to the 37 Military hospital.
