Cut Afia Schwarzenegger some slack; she knows what’s good for her

Why are people judging Afia before they hear her side of the story?

An audio and photos of Ghanaian Comedienne and TV personality, Valentina Nana Agyeiwaa aka Afia Schwarzenegger were circulating.

She had been caught cheating on her husband, according to Mynewsgh.com.

In a 2:23 minutes video recording, Afia is heard pleading after she was allegedly caught by her husband; Lawrence Abrokwah.

Later another video emerged. In the video, a man believed to be her "ex-husband" was being restrained from possibly abusing Afia physically.

In the video, Abrokwah is seen struggling to free himself from neighbours who were preventing him from abusing Afia.

In the video, the neighbours are heard saying: "Is this what you have to do to set yourself free? What you are doing isn't right."

Abrokwah is heard yelling: "F**k the relationship. And if I get that phone, you will know what I will do to it."

Afia Schwarzenegger also responds saying: "What has the phone got to do with this?"

It has also been alleged that Afia and Abrokwah were separated before she had the sexual encounter with the unknown man in the leaked video.

Another audio also making the rounds suggests that Afia’s maid snitched on her.

Now here are all my questions.

You may not like Afia but put yourself in her shoes. Will you be happy if a similar treatment was meted out to you?

If Afia was a man, most people will not judge her harshly as they are doing now.

The advice would have been different. We will hear people tell the woman to assess herself, find out what she is doing wrong then kneel and apologise and continuing marrying the man.

Others will also ask the wife to pray and ask God to change the heart of her husband.

Some will still ask a wife with a cheating husband to stay because they have children together and men will cheat anyway.

Why don’t we treat Afia the same way? Remember she is human just like the man most people would be speaking for if the tables had turned.

Why are we not talking about the acid threat? Why are we not condemning Abrokwah for taking a nude video of Afia?

We have in times past condemned people who leaked nude photos and videos of others, why are we bashing Afia on this?

Why are we not calling for an investigation into the leakage of the video and a possible arrest and prosecution of Abrokwah?

It is time we treat everybody equally irrespective of who they are and what they do.

Let us remember that it is Afia’s turn today it may be your turn the next time.
