The Chief Executive Officer of Domestic Ailrline Starbow, has expressed displeasure over the grounding of domestic flights by the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority due to prevailing unfavorable weather conditions.

The onset of the harmattan or dry season in Ghana has brought with it the usual dusty conditions which has made it impossible for local carriers to operate.

In an exclusive interview with Pulse Business, CEO of Starbow, Eric Adjei Antwi has bemoaned the loss of revenue to his company due to the situation.

" The situation has is the same, as at this morning. We are still not flying. This is not a good situation for us as a business. We are losing large sums of money due to the situation, and as you know the festive season is approaching. We have to pay salaries, pay bonuses, and all. So its a matter of huge concern."

Mr. Adjei Antwi then underscored the need for facilities in the domestic airports to improve. According to him, improved facilities could have made it easier even in the face of the current weather conditions.

" The facilities at our airports must improve. We need to upgrade, and we have to upgrade really fast. I know weather conditions cannot be controlled, but with the right equipment aiding visibility and landing, we can manage the impact of some weather conditions like this. It is extremely important because huge amounts of revenue is lost due to these cancellations."

Meanwhile, the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority has hinted of a possible cancellation of international flights.
