If the Cleveland Indians can get past the Boston Red Sox in the American League (AL) Division Series beginning Thursday, the club will receive a big boost to the pitching staff riddled with injuries.

Indians manager Terry Francona told reporters on Tuesday Danny Salazar is headed to the Indians' spring training facility in Arizona to continue his rehab for a strain of the flexor musculature in his forearm.

He received a platelet-rich plasma injection in his right arm in September.

"He's not ready to pitch in a game," said Francona, who did not add Salazar to the ALDS roster.

The right-hander is 11-6 with a 3.87 ERA and 161 strikeouts this season, but he has struggled since the beginning of July, having allowed 36 earned runs in 10 starts (7.36 ERA) during that time.

With Carlos Carrasco (hand) ruled out for the season and Corey Kluber (quad) on the mend, the Tribe will send Trevor Bauer to start game one against Boston star Rick Porcello.
