Senior High Schools (SHSs) in the three regions of northern Ghana have not re-opened for the third term of the 2016/2017 academic year.
The inability of the SHSs to admit all students on the re-opening day is as a result of the non-payment of three-and-half terms feeding subsidies owed them by the government.

The affected schools are in the Northern, Upper East and the Upper West Region.
The Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) has called for government to take immediate action to resolve the issue.
The Northern Regional Director of Education, Alhaji Mohammed Haroon has said the previous and current government left behind arrears for the schools.
