Dominika Cibulkova will head into Wimbledon with the Aegon International title to her name following a straight-sets win over Karolina Pliskova in the final.

Both players had to win twice in a day on Friday to reach the final, but it was Cibulkova who had more in the tank on Saturday in Eastbourne.

The Slovakian 12th seed needed an hour and 40 minutes to claim a 7-5 6-3 victory over 10th seed Pliskova.

Cibulkova won a first set that featured seven breaks of serve, the former Australian Open finalist striking the crucial blow in the final game of the opener.

The second set proved much more routine for Cibulkova, who broke in the fourth game for a 3-1 lead, although she had to save six break points before closing out the win.

Victory for Cibulkova marks her first tournament success on a surface other than a hard court, the competition serving as ideal preparation as the world number 21 bids to better her run to the quarter-finals at Wimbledon in 2011.
