An Indian magistrate ruled that any information that is factually incorrect or misleading that is posted on Whatsapp and Facebook could result in a report by the police against the group administrator.

And barely a week after the new law, there has been an arrest.

Police sources said a photograph of Modi was morphed "to look ugly and obscene" and was shared by a member of the 'The Balse Boys' group. But a complaint was lodged against the administrator.

Apart from Krishna Sannathamma Naik, another accused, named Ganesh Naik, was also arrested but was later released on bail.

A third accused, Balakrishna Naik, is reportedly on the run.
