Panathinaikos are reportedly looking to sign Ghana international Mubarak Wakaso as a long term replacement for Michael Essien.
According to Ghanasoccernet, the Greek giants are keen to cut down on their budget and create the avenue to sign new players.
And Panathinaikos manager Andreas Stramaccioni is open to sell the ex-Chelsea midfielder with Wakaso, 25, is seen as his the ideal replacement.
Essien has been linked with a reunion with international teammate Sulley Muntari at Saudi side Al Ittihad.
